On Saturday Stockport faced their first away league game in league one since losing away to Southend 2-1 at the start of May 2010 when they headed to Blackpool
The Hatters backed by just shy of 4000 travelling Stockport supporters headed to Blackpool of the back of beating Cambridge 2-0 on the opening day
To say we Stockport fans were in a joyous mood would not sum up the mood of the fans with a few pubs namely The Manchester and The Dutton Arms being full to the brim with the travelling support
As we entered the stadium it was quite ironic that throughout the whole 4 hours I myself spent in Blackpool before heading over to the ground at 2:30pm I hardly saw a copper to be met by 2 on horseback once I even approached the stadium was I thought quite overkill but regardless they are slightly helpful whilst bellowing from horseback to tell us the way to the away end.
The previously mentioned away end was a temporary stand put up once the tangerines reached premier league level all the way back in 2010 and has remained for the 14 years since then only normally is open at half capacity which roughly allows 2.3 thousand travelling fans in however they opened the other half up to us on Saturday making it an allocation of roughly 4000
Onto the match
The first half was quite an even one with being a rather end to end game both sides had quite good chances to score
However after half time the match dynamic totally changed Stockport were the much more dominant side bar about 5 minutes directly after half time with Louie Barry scoring another rocket this time from the edge of the 18 yard box into the top left of the goal
County’s second followed 17 minutes later with a beautiful strike from Jayden Fevrier following a great interception by Lewis Bate who just placed it into Fevrier’s path for him to take it round a couple of defenders
The final goal of the night followed 4 minutes into injury time after Tanto Olaofe returned from injury to bang one in from about 20 yards out he won the ball by just using his strength
The away atmosphere was incredible you couldn’t here the Blackpool fans bar about 5 minutes at the start of each half they poor especially for their first home league game this season
Just as I go to publish this I see that an hour and a half ago Blackpool relieved Neil Critchley as their manager
